In line with Bangladesh Bank’s directives, Janata Bank has turned its merchant banking unit into a separate subsidiary company as Janata Capital and Investment Company Limited. The company got registered with Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms with registration certificate no. C-83898/10 on 13 April, 2010. The authorized capital of this company is BDT 5000 million and paid up capital is BDT 2000 million. Its objectives are to work independently as issue manager, Underwriter & Portfolio manager. The company has started working since 24 September, 2010.
Janata Exchange Company srl, Italy, has been established on 18 January, 2002. It has begun operating with only one branch in Rome. Later, another branch has been opened in Milan. Paid up capital of the company is 6 lac Euro.
JEC sends money from Rome through Electronic Fund Transfer ( EFT ) system by which beneficiaries at Dhaka city get remittances on the next working day of remittances from Rome and Milan. Beneficiaries at other 63 district towns and other locations where courier services are available get remittances on the 2nd working days of remittances from Rome and Milan. The beneficiaries, who are maintaining accounts with other Janata Bank Limited branches in Bangladesh, will be able to withdraw money within 1 to 3 days of sending remittances.
